Missing my Dad :'(

Months have gone by, but the heartache still remain fresh. DAD, I really missed you… :(

Last 2011, we had an unforgettable vacation… We had longed to have this vacation.. because we are going to meet my Dad’s relatives (for the first time ever!!!) and we will be on a 3 week long vacation. I could still remember the time where-in I was praying to God, requesting His aid for I know my Managers might not permit me to go on such a short notice. Thankfully, I was allowed to go on this vacation.

We also had issues with the plane ticket. So, we changed our schedule several times. The good thing is that we were able to take the Cathay Pacific. It was my Dad’s dream to ride the said Aircraft to Hong Kong. Good thing about Cathay is that they have bigger baggage allowance.. So, even though we brought a lot of things.. We were able to check-in without any excess baggage… Also, it was my first time to check-in at NAIA I. I was a bit worried how the immigration officers are.. If they are friendly or rude.. Another thing is that we are not familiar with the NAIA I.

We board the aircraft to Hong Kong first and waited for 4 hours for our transfer to Beijing. Since we woke-up early, we took a nap on the airport terminal. Upon arrival on Beijing, my dad was very anxious to see his cousin. Immediately, he went to the immigration counter to have his passport stamp. I could still remember how he boasted that his visa is different from ours.

I am happy that I can see the ads that I took part on developing. This is a blessing from the Lord. This is one of the reasons why I love my current career. Because after all the hardships and over-time in developing these ads, I can see them live over the web. Praise the Lord for His blessing.

Jonathan and David

1 Samuel 18:1, 3-4

“Now it came about when he had finished speaking to Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as himself… Then Jonathan made a covenant with David because he loved him as himself. Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was on him and gave it to David, with his armor, including his sword and his bow and his belt”

Jonathan and David came from two different worlds. Jonathan was a prince raised in affluence, wanting for nothing. David was accustomed to sleeping under the stars as he watched over his father’s flock of sheep. Other friends might have kept them from being friends. Jonathan, as King Saul’s son, might naturally have expected to follow his father on the throne. Yet David was chosen to received the nation’s praise for his heroic battles, not Jonathan.

It’s remarkable that Jonathan could rise above these circumstances and not only accept David but actually make a vow to protect his life. In forging a friendship with David, Jonathan revealed a great deal about his own character. He proved that he was kind, generous, above petty jealousy, and genuinely unselfish. He also showed wisdom beyond his years by helping David become the next king of Israel. Jonathan understood and accepted that God has chosen David, not him, and anointed David as Israel’s future king. He never worried that David’s success might take away from his own. He went beyond merely accepting David as God’s chosen king; he even donated his own sword. In doing so, Jonathan gave up his own security, asking nothing from David in return.

There is much to learn about friendship from Jonathan’s example! A true friend seeks to give, rather than to take. In true friendship there is no keeping score. A real friend cares as much as for his friend’s well-being as for his own life. A friend finds joy in the success of her friends, even if their accomplishments outshines her own.
